Nigeria produce tomatoes in excess of about 1.5million metric tons per annum with most harvest between January to April every year leading to glut and postharvest losses when 50kg basket size is sold as low as N1,000 ($2.5) but consumers have to pay 13times more (as high as N15,000 ($50) ) during scarcity which last about 8months and there is no functional processing facility till date to absorbs the excess harvest
